What changes
Directive (EU) 2024/825 amends the Unfair Commercial Practices Directive and the Consumer Rights Directive. Member states had to transpose it by 27 March 2026. The rules apply from 27 September 2026.
- Generic claims such as "eco-friendly", "green", "sustainable" or "climate friendly" are banned unless you can demonstrate recognised excellent environmental performance relevant to the claim, or the specification is given in clear terms on the same medium (Annex I point 4a).
- Sustainability labels not based on a certification scheme or established by public authorities are banned (Annex I point 2a).
- "Climate neutral" or "CO2 compensated" products based on offsetting are banned (Annex I point 4c).
- Whole product or whole business claims that concern only a certain aspect are banned (Annex I point 4b).
- Legal requirements shown as your own feature are banned (Annex I point 10a).
- Future claims such as "net zero by 2030" need a detailed, realistic implementation plan with measurable, time-bound targets, regularly verified by an independent third-party expert (the amended Article 6(2)(d)).
Small and medium businesses are not exempt. B2B claims can be caught when they flow through to consumers. Penalties are set nationally.
What is inside
Check text
Paste copy, packaging text or a web page. Flagged phrases are highlighted, each with the rule, why it matters and what evidence or rewrite is needed.
Claims register
Claim, where used, product, evidence held, status (keep, rewrite, remove, evidence needed) and review date, with a warning when a review is due.
Checklist per claim
Eight questions to work through before a claim stays.
Export
JSON, CSV for your spreadsheet, or an HTML report to share. Import to continue later.
What it does not do
The checker finds wording from a visible phrase list. It does not judge context, and a missing hit does not mean your text is fine. It checks English text only. It is not legal advice.

Questions
Does it make our claims compliant?
No tool can promise that. It points you to wording to look at and helps you keep track of evidence and decisions.
Does it check German, French or Dutch?
No. Only English text is checked.
Where is our data stored?
Only in your browser. Export your register to keep a record or share it.
